About The Position

Tetra Tech is currently seeking an entry level Pipeline and Facilities Design Engineer, in our Casper, WY office. This position provides engineering support for pipeline, pump station, and terminal/tank projects nationwide. You will participate in a multi-disciplinary project team. A successful candidate will bring design engineering and technical expertise to a team of established consultants with a proven track record of 43+ years in the Oil & Gas Industry. We will provide training that will allow our engineers the ability to quickly be active members of our design team.

Requirements

  • B.S. in ABET accredited Civil, Mechanical, Chemical, or other engineering program with 0-5 years of relevant experience.
  • Passed Fundamentals of Engineering Exam (FE).
  • Willingness to attain PE licensure.
  • Must be able to communicate with peers, contractors, and clients clearly and efficiently.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Must be a self-starter capable of handling solo projects as well as working with a group, eager to learn and expand your skillset, and be detail oriented.
  • Exposure to AutoCAD or MicroStation a plus.
  • Experience with hydraulic modeling software preferred.
  • Experience with pipe stress modeling software preferred.
  • A Pre-employment drug screening in compliance with state regulations is required.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record without restrictions.

Responsibilities

  • Pipe routing and overall facility site layout.
  • Process Flow Diagram (PFD) and P&ID Development.
  • Hydraulic calculations, line sizing, pipe material grade and wall thickness selection, and Maximum Allowable Operating Pressure (MAOP) calculations.
  • Equipment specification and sizing, including pumps, motors, metering, sampling, storage tanks, relief valves, pipe, valves, and fittings.
  • Development and ongoing updates to project scopes of work, engineering design basis documentation, and construction bid packages.
  • Conducting field investigations and gathering applicable data to support detailed engineering and design for both greenfield sites as well as the upgrade, modification, and expansion of existing infrastructure.
  • Coordination and expediting, as necessary, for all assigned project procurement activities, including the review and approval of all equipment and material engineering specifications and technical data sheets, Request for Quotation (RFQ) and Request for Purchase (RFP) packages, coordinating responses to vendor clarification requests, evaluating vendor proposals, and overseeing the selection of equipment and materials that meets the project design requirements.
  • Coordinate compliance and permitting efforts.
  • Develop detailed designs of pipelines, compressor/pump stations, and other facilities related scope of work.
  • Assist with cost estimating, and construction scheduling.
  • Hydraulic modeling.
  • Pipe stress modeling.
