About The Position

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced attorneys, gain hands-on experience in personal injury cases, and will be responsible for managing a caseload of personal injury matters. The Associate works under the general direction of the COO and has a limited degree of discretion with respect to controlling cases assigned to him/her. The Associate works in conjunction with the Office Manager to handle administrative duties delegated by the Owner.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • 0-3 years of experience, with some exposure to personal injury law preferred.
  • Strong legal research and writing skills, with experience drafting legal documents.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients and colleagues.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • A proactive approach to professional development and a willingness to learn from senior attorneys.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English skills

Responsibilities

  • Conduct consultations with prospective clients and serve as the principal contact between the Firm and its clients
  • Manage a caseload of personal injury cases, working under the supervision of senior attorneys, from case initiation through resolution.
  • Compile all possible information, evidence, and documentation, including medical records and bills, loss of earnings documentation and change in lifestyle information,
  • Draft pleadings, motions, and other legal documents for filing in county and/or state courts
  • Negotiate and settle all assigned cases
  • Communicate regularly with clients to provide updates on case status, answer questions, and address concerns
  • Representing clients in mediation, in deposition, and in court for motions, and other types of hearings
  • Oversee the work of the Case Manager (CM).
  • Assign case-related tasks appropriate for the position, such as: Client follow-up, Responding to client requests, Communicating with the client to obtain information/documents/records needed, Case tracking, Relay demands to insurance carriers
