About The Position

The Entry-Level Paralegal provides administrative and clerical support to attorneys in a high-volume debt collection practice. This role assists with the preparation and processing of legal documents, case tracking, and maintaining accurate records to ensure cases progress efficiently and in compliance with court and client requirements.

Requirements

  • No prior legal experience is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word (or WordPerfect), Excel, and Outlook
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Ability and willingness to learn legal terminology, court procedures, and filing requirements.
  • Strong data entry accuracy and comfort working with high-volume documentation.
  • Familiarity with administrative and clerical processes, including document management and recordkeeping.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to interact professionally with attorneys, court personnel, opposing counsel, and clients.
  • Strong teamwork skills and ability to build cooperative working relationships.
  • Dependable, thorough, and committed to completing tasks accurately and on time.
  • Willingness to learn and apply new processes, systems and legal knowledge.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in collections or creditors’ rights is a plus, but not required
  • Paralegal certificate or degree is helpful but not required

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and process legal documents, including pleadings, discovery, and court orders.
  • Review and intake filed pleadings and other court documents.
  • Track discovery deadlines, hearing dates, and court activity.
  • Organizing and preparing documents for hearings and trials.
  • Preparing affidavits and legal correspondence as needed.
  • Compile and distribute courtesy copies of filings.
  • Enter court orders and file documents into the firm’s system of record.
  • Maintain and organize documents within the electronic filing system.
  • Communicate with clients and adhere to client-specific standards and requirements.
  • Collaborate with other paralegals and participate in cross-training on procedures for multiple jurisdictions.
