Northern Star (Pogo) LLC have a challenging and rewarding opportunity for an Entry-level Millwright at our world-class Pogo operation in Alaska on a rotational camp schedule. The Millwright reports to the Millwright Supervisor and the primary role is to maintain, troubleshoot and repair fixed plant equipment such as SAG/Ball mills, conveyors, compressors, hydraulic systems, pressure filters, pumps, and piping systems. You'll be a highly organised individual who will display behaviour consistent to our Northern Star Values of Safety, Teamwork, Accountability, Respect and Results, looking to work with the business for the long term and be an integral part in its future growth and development.

Requirements

  • 1-2 years general mechanical experience, preferably in maintaining and repairing fixed plant equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and specifications.
  • Ability to problem-solve and manage conflicting priorities.
  • Flexibility to adapt to improved procedures and practices.
  • Awareness of the Mine Safety and Health Act & Regulations.
  • High school diploma or equivalent education/training.
  • Good communication skills; ability to read and write in English.
  • Ability to pass a background check and post offer physical.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all tasks related to preventative maintenance program such as reporting fluid leaks, performing lube work, taking fluid samples, inspecting components and parts for proper operation, damage or wear.
  • Responsible for gathering technical information to perform the job.
  • Troubleshoots, diagnoses, modifies, fabricates and repairs mobile and stationary equipment in the Mill per supervisor direction.
  • Prepares computer generated work orders, changes out parts and follows procedures to pick up parts and supplies from the warehouse.
  • Performs equipment walk around, inspects and operates equipment, properly disposes of wastes.
  • Repair and replace components and parts as needed.
