About The Position

AECOM is hosting an exclusive, invitation-only hiring event in New York, New York October 15-17. This is a great opportunity to learn and connect with AECOM for career opportunities starting Spring/Summer 2026. The event kicks off on Wednesday evening with a networking mixer from 6-8 pm, where you can hear from AECOM staff about various projects, career paths, and the company itself. You'll also have the chance to meet other students, recent graduates, and AECOM professionals from across our business lines. On Thursday and Friday, interviews will take place at our New York office. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn about and connect with AECOM for early career opportunities. AECOM is seeking an Entry-Level Mechanical Engineer to be based in Bloomfield, NJ, or alternatively, New York City, NY could be considered. The Entry-Level Mechanical Engineer will be a part of our MEP/Fire Protection team for the New York Metro area. We engage in systems building engineering - developing the design of systems (HVAC/R), performance design and analysis from conception through construction and close-out for commercial, retail, NYM public agency buildings, transportation buildings and more! This position is expected to begin Spring/Summer 2026.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Revit preferred.
  • Experience with AutoCAD greatly preferred.
  • Mechanical Engineering courses taken with an emphasis in the Thermal-Sciences realm (Thermodynamics, Fluid Dynamics, Heat Transfer, etc.)
  • HVAC load calculation software experience - Carrier HAP preferred.
  • MS Office experience - Word, Excel, PowerPoint preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Builds analytical and design skills.
  • Performs engineering design activities under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
  • Creates designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
  • Collects and analyzes data under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
  • Uses computer software as a tool for creating drawings such as AutoCAD and Revit and solving basic engineering problems utilizing Microsoft Office.
  • Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule under supervision.
