We are seeking a motivated Entry-Level Shop Technician to join our aerospace team at the Chatsworth facility. This hands-on role focuses almost exclusively on shop-floor activities, supporting the fabrication, assembly, testing, and maintenance of tubing and piping systems for aerospace applications. You will work closely under the guidance of senior technicians and the engineering team, contributing to high-reliability projects while learning industry best practices. This position offers excellent on-the-job training for individuals eager to build a career in aerospace manufacturing and field support. This entry-level position is perfect for someone ready to dive into hands-on aerospace work, gain practical experience in tubing/piping fabrication and pressure systems, and grow within a supportive team environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) for documentation and communication.
  • Willingness and ability to learn tube fabrication techniques (bending, flaring, fitting installation), pressure testing, and shop best practices quickly.
  • Must be available to travel approximately 25% of the time.
  • Strong attention to detail, reliability, and eagerness to learn in a team-oriented setting.
  • Excellent safety awareness and commitment to quality.
  • U.S. Person status may be required (ITAR compliance).
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and handle heavy components safely with assistance when needed.
  • Comfortable working full-time in a shop/manufacturing environment (exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, pressurized systems, and machinery).
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move throughout the facility for extended periods.
  • Willing and able to use basic hand tools (wrenches, tube benders, flaring tools, torque wrenches, drills, etc.) safely and effectively.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree or certificate in a technical field (e.g., manufacturing, welding, machining, or aerospace technology) preferred but not required for entry-level candidates.

Responsibilities

  • Fabricate, bend, assemble, and install tubing and piping systems (hydraulic, pneumatic, propellant, or similar) using hand tools, fixtures, and basic shop equipment under senior supervision.
  • Support pressure testing operations, including setup, execution, monitoring, and documentation of hydrostatic or pneumatic tests in accordance with engineering procedures and safety standards.
  • Assist with field work preparation and on-site support as needed, including packing, loading, and basic installation/troubleshooting activities.
  • Maintain shop organization: implement and follow quality shop control systems for tool calibration, equipment organization, inventory tracking of consumables, and general housekeeping to ensure a safe and efficient workspace.
  • Perform basic inspections, measurements, and documentation using calipers, micrometers, pressure gauges, and other shop tools to verify work meets specifications.
  • Use Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) to log work orders, record test results, update checklists, and communicate with the team.
  • Collaborate with engineers and senior technicians on prototype builds, fit checks, modifications, and continuous improvement efforts in the shop.
  • Travel up to 25% of the time (typically short trips for field installations, customer support, or supplier coordination).
  • Adhere to all safety protocols, aerospace quality standards, and company procedures while working in a manufacturing/shop environment.
