About The Position

The General Maintenance person is responsible for maintaining the entire facility mechanical infrastructure including material handling equipment (conveyors, automated sorters, printers of all types, stretch wrap machines, balers, compactors, and some fork-lifts) and all other mechanical infrastructure as directed.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent plus at least two years additional training/education and two to five years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • General knowledge of electrical (120V, 240V, 480V and DC Voltages), carpentry, plumbing, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, procedure manuals, operating and maintenance instructions, and manuals.
  • Ability to add, subtract, and divide simple numbers such as weights and quantities.
  • Common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with IBM’s AS-400 software is a plus.
  • No fear of heights. Able to go up to the ceiling on the scissor lift and occasionally go on the roof using the wall ladder access.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on material handling equipment including conveyers, sorters, and related equipment.
  • Be computer literate and have a working knowledge of Windows Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Notify Management concerning major repairs or additions to building operating systems.
  • Move equipment and supplies either manually or by using various types of material handling equipment as needed in a safe manner.
  • Requisition supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance functions.
  • Maintain Maintenance area in a clean, organized, and safe manner always.
  • Maintain and repair IT equipment as required.
  • Follow safety rules for personal protection and the protection of others.
  • Be certified on powered industrial trucks including Reach Truck, Order Picker, Sit-down Forklift, Electric Pallet Jack and Forklift Battery Changing Equipment and Scissor Lift.
  • Schedule preventative maintenance as needed and anticipate maintenance needs in the facility.
  • Maintain compliance with OSHA regulations for hazardous chemical program.
