About The Position

Arcadis is looking for an Entry-Level Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Engineer in the municipal water/wastewater industry to join our growing Resilience team in Columbus, OH or Akron, OH. As an Instrumentation and Controls Engineer, you will collaborate with our experienced team of professionals, providing technical and design consulting services with a focus on instrumentation, controls systems, and associated network and communications infrastructure for municipal water and wastewater conveyance and treatment facilities. As an I&C Engineer, you will work in a collaborative environment, focusing on evaluating and designing control system solutions that align with client needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical or controls engineering or a closely related field of study.
  • 0-3+ years of I&C, Automation, and SCADA system design and implementation experience in the water/wastewater industry.
  • Basic knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications—including Word, Excel, MS Project, and Outlook.
  • A valid driver's license and a clean driving record.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in applying instrumentation and controls to process and electromechanical equipment.
  • Basic understanding of industrial network design and implementation.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare technical memorandums and develop comprehensive design criteria.
  • Craft SCADA system architectures, communication system and network designs, process and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), SCADA network diagrams, and process control functional narratives.
  • Create specifications, control schematics, panel layout diagrams, interconnection diagrams, and other I&C design documents.
  • Coordinate with process, mechanical, and electrical engineers assigned to the project.
  • Perform engineering services during the construction phase, which involves reviewing equipment and software submittals, analyzing shop drawings, and responding to contractor RFIs (requests for information).
  • Conduct field inspections to oversee construction projects, identify deviations from design, perform general quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) of completed work, and monitor safety compliance.
  • Participate in factory testing, site acceptance testing, and project startup.
  • Provide electrical design and coordination for various projects, focusing on medium and low voltage power distribution, motor controls, lighting, and grounding systems, particularly for water and wastewater projects.
