About The Position

We are looking for a Mechanic for our East Chicago, IN location who enjoys problem solving and is a great trouble-shooter! You will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of production units including pumps, compressors, working with lifting and rigging, general maintenance on rotational equipment and other duties that may be apart from maintenance duties. This position may require you to work overtime and will be responsible for maintaining company equipment. We supply all tools.

Requirements

  • High School or equivalent, higher education is a plus.
  • 0+ years' experience in a Manufacturing/Industrial environment preferred (students welcome to apply).
  • Plant maintenance experience in one or more of the following areas: Preventative maintenance, Welding, Installations, Pipefitting, Hydraulics systems, Pumps experience (piston, centrifugal and diaphragm pumps an asset).
  • Must be a trouble-shooter and problem solver.
  • Communicate well with all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to pass a mechanical aptitude test.
  • Ability to meet physical demands of the position, including movements such as lifting, bending, reaching, climbing, and the manipulating and handling of objects.
  • Must be able to lift to 50lbs.
  • Ability to be on call.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all required maintenance and repairs to various types of equipment.
  • Perform maintenance which follows the manufacturer guidelines for service times and inspections.
  • Assist the supervisor and management with documentation best practices.
  • Provide insight and offer suggestions to assist supervisor and management with implementation and revision of any required training documents.
  • Respond to client and staff service phone calls in the office and/or shop and discuss maintenance and repair decisions with Shop Superintendent.
  • Ensure expected completion timelines for various repairs are met and that equipment is repaired and sent out in a timely manner.
  • Ensure continuous communication with the supervisor and management to ensure priorities are set and deadlines are met.
  • Timely and accurate completion of all required paperwork such as Work Orders, Inspections, and Inventory Sheets.
  • Provide support to the Shop Superintendent to track inventory and maintain cost controls on a monthly basis.
  • Ensure the shop area is kept clean, tidy, and free of hazards at all times.
  • Monitor all equipment to ensure it is in superior working condition to leave on a job or if it needs repair for safety reasons.
