About The Position

AECOM is actively seeking an Entry-Level Highway Design Engineer to join AECOM's Transportation team in Roanoke, VA. This position is scheduled to begin in May 2026. As an Entry Level Highway Design Engineer, you will gain experience working as part of a team on a wide range of transportation projects. You will build analytic and design skills, create designs, perform calculations, and draft construction plans under the supervision of an experienced engineer.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related degree.

Nice To Haves

• EIT Certification.
• Relevant internship or co-op experience in highway design and/or transportation.
• Working knowledge of OpenRoads (ORD) or Civil3D design software and 3D modeling techniques.

Responsibilities

• Performs a variety of assignments designed to develop professional work knowledge and abilities, requiring application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria in carrying out tasks.
• Builds analytic and design skills.
• Conducts engineering design under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
• May work closely with the design team and creates designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
• Collects and analyzes data under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
• Uses computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problems.
• Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule under supervision.
• Assists the Project Management team with management administration on a small to moderate size and scope project, or a portion of a larger, more complex project, following set guidelines for tasks.
• Attend meetings and report on project tasks as needed.
