About The Position

Entry Level Hardware Design Engineer – Tektronix Tektronix is seeking qualified candidates for an Entry Level Hardware Design Engineer position. This opportunity is ideal for individuals passionate about electronics design and eager to contribute to the development and support of industry-leading test and measurement solutions. The selected candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, enhancing, and sustaining hardware components for Tektronix products. This includes development and maintenance of printed circuit board schematics and layouts for instruments such as Source Measure Units (SMUs), Digital Multimeters (DMMs), Picoammeters, Nanovoltmeters, Switch Matrices, Capacitance-Voltage (CV) Meters, Pulse Meters, Arbitrary Waveform Generators (ARBs), and integrated systems like the 4200A-SCS Parameter Analyzer. This role is part of the Sustaining Engineering team, which focuses on Continuous Engineering Support (CES). Engineers in this team ensure the long-term reliability, manufacturability, and performance of Tektronix products by resolving design issues, supporting legacy platforms, and implementing enhancements based on customer feedback and evolving technology standards. You will collaborate closely with customers, product marketing, applications engineers, technical writers, and audit engineers to deliver high-quality solutions that meet real-world needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field.
  • Analog and digital circuit design for precision instrumentation (e.g., oscilloscopes, SMUs, DMMs, waveform generators).
  • Experience with low-noise, high-accuracy measurement systems, including signal conditioning and filtering.
  • Understanding of measurement accuracy, error budgets, and calibration techniques.
  • Familiarity with A/D and D/A converters, low-current and low-voltage design, and power supply regulation.
  • Knowledge of transmission line theory, impedance matching, and high-speed signal integrity.
  • Experience designing hardware for test and measurement instruments used in R&D, manufacturing, and diagnostics.
  • Understanding of system-level architecture, including timing, synchronization, and communication protocols (e.g., USB, Ethernet, GPIB, LXI).
  • Ability to define and optimize block diagrams, signal paths, and measurement performance.
  • Ability to interface with embedded software, instrument drivers, and automation frameworks.
  • Programming experience in C/C++, Python, or Lua for hardware control and test automation.
  • Familiarity with Linux-based development environments and scripting for data acquisition and analysis.
