About The Position

AECOM is seeking an Entry-Level Geotechnical Engineer to be based in our Boston, MA office. This position will support our remediation team within our Environment business line. This position is expected to begin May 2026, but that date is flexible. The Entry-Level Geotechnical Engineer will serve as a team member in the office and the field, assisting project and program management with design and implementation of soil, groundwater, sediment, and surface water investigation and remediation programs, data analysis, and report preparation. Our teams work on complex remediation projects, pulling the right resources from across the company to support project needs. Requirements

  • BA/BS in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering or related field + 0 years of related experience and/or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Experience with AutoCAD
  • Valid US Driver’s License and as a condition of employment must pass the AECOM Motor Vehicle screening
  • Due to the nature of work, U.S. Citizenship is required
  • Travel is required for this position

Nice To Haves

  • General knowledge of basic engineering, chemistry, and environmental sciences
  • Experience with Civil 3D
  • Experience and/or demonstrated interest in environmental remediation
  • Proficiency in standard office suite software applications
  • EIT Certification or able to obtain within one year of hire date
  • Ability to demonstrate professional demeanor in written and verbal communications with clients, regulatory officials, and fellow employees
  • Ability to write and to convey complex thoughts and ideas in a clear, concise manner
  • Ability to learn through on-the-job experience
  • Tolerance for work in outdoor environments in a range of weather conditions
  • Ability to work independently, both in an office environment and in the field
  • OSHA 40 Hour HAZWOPER Certification
  • Ability to travel locally, including occasional extended travel

Responsibilities

  • Preparation of calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings under the supervision of an experienced engineer
  • Use of computer software (e.g. CAD, GIS, data analysis tools) as a tool for solving basic engineering problems
  • Building analytic and engineering design skills under the supervision of an experienced engineer
  • Development of technical memoranda and reports
  • Geotechnical and environmental sampling (e.g., soil, sediment, groundwater, stormwater, wastewater, air, and hazardous waste)
  • Site visits at industrial, federal, commercial, and municipal client facilities
  • Data collection and analysis for remedial design
  • Performing work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule under supervision
  • Local travel is likely and U.S travel possible and project dependent
  • Field work in locations as appropriate
