About The Position

Kleinfelder's Geotechnical team is looking for an Entry-Level Geotechnical Engineer to join our team in Salt Lake City, Utah. This position offers a great opportunity to work both in the field and the office, supporting the planning, engineering, and construction of complex projects. The right candidate will be self-motivated and have 0 - 3 years of geotechnical engineering experience. Responsibilities include assisting the Project Engineer/Project Manager in field investigations and construction projects, reviewing and compiling geotechnical laboratory and field testing results, performing geotechnical analyses, and report writing.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Geotechnical Engineering.
• Master's degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Geotechnical Engineering is preferred.
• 0 - 3 years of geotechnical engineering experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Project Engineer/Project Manager and participate in field assignments including boring layout and utility clearance.
• Coordinate with drilling contractors and supervise drill rig and geotechnical field investigations.
• Log borings and test pits.
• Inspect and oversee construction of grading, earthwork, retaining structures, and foundation installation.
• Assist with lab testing assignments and compile lab and field testing results.
• Perform geotechnical engineering analysis under supervision including soil/rock classification, slope stability analysis, earth retention systems, seepage, shallow and deep foundation design, settlement, ground improvement, ground motion characterization, liquefaction, seismic and geologic hazard evaluation, and earthquake engineering.
• Assist the Project Engineer/Manager in preparing geotechnical reports.
