What You Will Do: As an entry‑level Geologist, you'll gain hands‑on experience across civil, geotechnical, and environmental projects supporting Energy, Industrial, and Government clients, everything from power plants and pipelines to landfills, mining sites, dams, and stream restoration projects. Your work may span multiple service areas, giving you exposure to S&ME's diverse capabilities and helping you discover where you want to grow. You'll gain hands‑on experience both in the field and the office, including: Field Investigations & Sampling: Assist with hydrogeological investigations and environmental field work such as soil borings, monitoring well installation, soil and rock classification, in‑situ permeability testing, and collection of soil, groundwater, and gas samples for laboratory analysis. Data Analysis & Reporting: Learn how field data turns into decisions by preparing data tables and graphics, comparing results to state and federal regulatory standards, and contributing to technical reports. Inspections & Collaboration: Support construction and environmental inspections while communicating with vendors, project teams, and clients to keep projects moving forward. This role is designed to help you build technical skills, gain field experience, and work toward professional growth, all while contributing to impactful projects from day one. Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Geology or a closely related field
  • Well-organized with the ability to multitask and prioritize work
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Working outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Walking over rough, uneven terrain and standing (potentially up to 12 hours a day)
  • Routinely lifting and carrying 40-50lbs (field/laboratory samples and equipment)
  • Working outside of normal business hours and traveling (typically out-of-town and/or overnight) as project needs arise

Nice To Haves

  • Geologist in Training (GIT) certification, a plus
  • Eligible to obtain a Professional Geologist (PG) license within 4-5 years
