About The Position

This role is at Spirit AeroSystems, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company, supporting Spirit’s Commercial Business Units. Spirit Commercial designs and builds commercial aerostructures, including for Boeing Commercial Airplanes, focusing on innovative composite and aluminum manufacturing solutions. Boeing-Wichita is seeking an Industrial Engineer to join their team in Wichita, KS. This role is critical for optimizing manufacturing systems that support the production of advanced aerostructures. The Industrial Engineer will focus on improving production efficiency, analyzing workflow and capacity, and implementing data-driven solutions to enhance safety, quality, cost, and delivery performance. Collaboration with engineering, manufacturing, and program teams is essential to evaluate processes, balance production lines, and develop scalable solutions for high-rate aerospace manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET accredited engineering program
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of IE Tools used in production ie: capacity analysis, facility layout, and production improvements

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in an Aircraft or Aerospace Manufacturing environment
  • Advanced level Excel skills, including modeling and forecasting abilities, to include existing dependent demand from SAP, as well as potential independent demand from various outside sources.

Responsibilities

  • Position will be primarily responsible for headcount and resource planning for Fabrication Operations.
  • This includes planning for 1,800+ direct touch hourly employees, as well as several hundred indirect hourly, and management type employees.
  • Reports and plans will be provided to 13 senior managers, 4 directors, and a VP for Fabrication.
  • Roles and responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to, monitoring and comparing demand, monitoring and applying factors to demand around emergent issues and quality, interfacing with senior leadership and executive leadership on headcount planning and efficiency planning.
  • Role will support demand management team and decision support for the Fabrication Organization.
