About the position

The initial project they will support is a state program to demo and remove boats that were lost/abandoned during hurricanes. For this project, they will provide oversight of the contractors and report writing. The projects are located on the West Coast of Florida, from Crystal River to Naples, so there will likely be significant overnight travel required for the first 6-9 months (depending on where the person lives).

Responsibilities

• Provide oversight of contractors for the state program to demo and remove abandoned boats.
• Conduct report writing related to the project.
• Manage project activities on the West Coast of Florida.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Environmental Engineering, or a physical science.
• Valid Florida Driver's License.
• Must be available for some overnight travel in Florida.
• OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training with updates preferred.
• Strong technical education and professional demeanor.
• Desire to learn and grow in the field.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, agency personnel, and the public.
• Proficient in using a computer for data management in spreadsheets, tables, graphs, and various software programs.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
