AECOM is seeking an Entry-Level Environmental Scientist to join our New York, NY office to assist with environment, air and noise studies and sampling and environmental permitting. The successful candidate will work with a diverse team of technical leaders across a broad range of practice areas delivering professional consulting services to our key clients. This is an office-based role comprising approximately 70% office work and 30% field work. The candidate will join a large established team conducting air, noise, and vibration studies and analyses. This position requires excellent written and spoken communication skills, organizational and time management skills, flexibility to work on a range of projects, and a positive attitude. The successful candidate will have the ability to communicate effectively with members of the project team, clients, site personnel and office management, and can work both independently and as a part of a project team. Note this role will require some travel outside of the New York Metropolitan area to support projects as needed across the United States.

  • Utilizes basic scientific principles, theories, practices, and existing technologies to develop solutions for technical problems with limited scope.
  • Collects and enters data; applies technical principles and theories.
  • Interprets and records data, conducts analyses, and compares findings to relevant studies and local, state, and federal regulations to ensure compliance.
  • Participates in site visits and coordinating and assisting field staff as required.
  • Performing work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule under supervision.
  • Develop knowledge of job-specific federal, state, and local laws and regulations and assigned job specifications.
  • Collecting and analyzing data under the supervision of an experienced scientist/engineer.
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Natural Science, Applied Mathematics or Physics.
  • Valid US Driver's License.
  • Due to the nature of work, US Citizenship is required.
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification.
  • Experience with collecting air, noise, and/or vibration data.
  • Knowledge of New York City Infrastructure and Transit Systems.
