The Railroad Business Unit of Modjeski and Masters is seeking Entry Level Bridge Design Engineers with an interest in Railroad Bridge Design. As a Structural Bridge Design Engineer with Modjeski and Masters, you will work on a variety of challenging and rewarding bridge engineering projects for a myriad of transportation clients. As a member of our team, you'll be immediately responsible for performing engineering tasks under the careful supervision of established and respected professionals. Railroad Bridge Unit: Focuses on structural design, evaluation and rehabilitation of new and existing railroad bridges of all types, including fixed, movable, girder, truss and arch structures. This unit focuses on the unique challenges of railroad structures, including historic bridges and providing emergency services. Staff within this unit are primarily made up of Structural Engineers.

Requirements

  • Education: At minimum - BS in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university.
  • higher level education degrees should be related to Civil Engineering
  • Certification: Passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam and pursuing EIT Certification
  • Strong initiative, attention to detail, and the ability to follow through on design and detailing tasks.
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • Railroad bridge experience or a strong interest in railroad bridges (preferred, not required).

Responsibilities

  • Perform structural design and detailing of railroad bridge components under the guidance of Senior Engineers and Project Managers.
  • Contribute to multiple projects simultaneously, supporting both office and field assignments.
  • Conduct bridge analysis, design, and detailing in accordance with the AREMA Manual.
  • Apply problem-solving skills to resolve design and detailing issues.
  • Use CADD software, Microsoft Office, and structural analysis tools to support project deliverables.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members, supervisors, and project managers, communicating ideas clearly both orally and in writing.
