This position is located in Aurora, North Carolina, U.S.A. and not available for remote work.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science with a concentration in studies related to Instrument/Electrical design and automation or equivalent.
  • This position requires a working knowledge of chemical plant operations to effectively apply instrumentation skills to successfully perform the job functions.
  • Basic knowledge of current process control technology in the areas of servers and networking.
  • Knowledge of and experience in the process control networking protocols and hardware.
  • Knowledge of software used in the process control environment.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise operation and maintenance of electrical and mechanical instruments and control equipment necessary for the safe and efficient operation of all the various plants on this location.
  • Design and supervise operation and maintenance of electrical, instruments and control equipment necessary for the safe and efficient operation of ALL the various plants of this location.
  • Assist in programming and making program modifications for computer control systems.
  • Be familiar with and assist in the maintenance of all existing instrumentation.
  • Write specifications for selection of new instrumentation and spare part stock.
  • Train Nutrien personnel in the operation and maintenance of computer-controlled instrumentation.
  • Assist in the formulation and the subsequent implementation of the plan for process automation for all operating areas.
  • Knowledge of current process control technology in the areas of servers and networking.
  • Knowledge of and experience in the process control networking protocols and hardware in use at Phosphate Operations including Ethernet, Radio Frequency Ethernet, TCP/IP, fiber-optics, bridges, and routers and switches.
  • Knowledge of software used in the process control environment including but not limited to Virtual, Machine, Wonderware, Rockwell, Modicon, Mark IV, Honeywell etc.
  • Be familiar with and assist in the maintenance of all existing electrical equipment.
  • Write specifications for selection of new electrical equipment and spare part stock.
  • Assist all areas with investigating reasons for equipment failures as requested.
  • Train Nutrien personnel to improve performance and acquaint them with policies and procedures.
  • Functions as a technical advisor and/or a team member to Maintenance I/E Teams.
  • Must inspect projects, plants, and equipment on a routine basis.
