About The Position

Align is seeking an entry-level Engineering professional interested in launching a career in Consulting and Critical Infrastructure Analysis. This is an excellent opportunity for recent graduates to gain broad experience in Data Center Strategy, Transformation, and Project Management. As part of our Data Center Assessment and Modernization team, you will support hands-on analysis of data center environments and their mechanical and electrical infrastructure. You'll assist senior consultants with current-state to future-state assessments, relocation and consolidation planning, and infrastructure remediation strategies for enterprise clients. This role is not a design position, but candidates should have a basic understanding of mechanical and/or electrical systems in data center or critical facility settings. Internship or 1-2 years of relevant experience in engineering, consulting, or data centers is helpful but not required. This hybrid role is based out of our Iselin, NJ office and will work onsite approximately 2 days per week and will work remotely the other days. The position requires regular travel, based on client project requirements. This is a full-time position offering full benefits, a base salary in the $65K to $85K range (commensurate with experience), paid training and performance-based bonuses.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or related field).
  • 1-2 years of experience in engineering, management consulting, or critical facilities assessment (preferred but not required), we would also consider a college graduate with relevant internship or educational experience
  • Basic understanding of mechanical, electrical structural systems in data center or critical facility environments
  • Power User with a high Level of Proficiency with PowerPoint, Excel, and Office tools to manage plans, charts, reports
  • Able to work with Senior Management Consultants to understand the findings of our assessment and generate client-facing documentation, such as executive level presentations, reports and project collateral
  • Strong organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team setting
  • Eagerness to learn, grow, and build a career in data center facilities consulting and infrastructure strategy
  • Must be able to travel as needed

Nice To Haves

  • A basic understanding of data center functions, technologies and interdependencies would be preferred.
  • Basic experience working with critical MEP infrastructure or Engineering Consulting projects, including facility assessment, feasibility studies, migration and consolidation would be a plus

Responsibilities

  • Learn to conduct business analysis functions, project management methodologies, and consulting best practices in the context of critical facility environments
  • Support data center assessments by evaluating mechanical and electrical infrastructure and identifying opportunities for modernization and optimization to help create data center transformation strategies and plans
  • Contribute to "current-state" and "future-state" analysis for enterprise clients.
  • Work with senior team members to author client-facing documentation for reports, recommendations, and strategies for improving data center operations and capacity planning, including executive summary presentations, block diagrams, and technical illustrations to support facility analysis and remediation recommendations.
  • Be a hands-on resource for Data Center Facility Analysis, Capacity Planning and Remediation Strategy, including walkthroughs and on-site assessments
  • Utilize and lead, when applicable, all manual processes such as workshops, facility manager meetings and engineering diagram analysis to gather required infrastructure specification and data center attributes.
  • Assist with the creation of Statements of Work and support the sales process.
