What this job involves: This position requires hands-on mechanical and electrical work with door system hardware. The Security Hardware/Access Control Technician is a hands-on technical role focused on the physical repair, installation, and maintenance of security access control equipment for JLL's client operations in Anaheim, CA. You'll work directly with your hands on electrified door hardware, card readers, electronic locks, key boxes, and associated mechanical/electrical components. This position requires willingness to work 3rd shift operations and handle preventative maintenance work orders as a core responsibility. You'll develop specialized expertise in physical security hardware while ensuring all access control equipment operates reliably across client properties. This role offers excellent growth potential with comprehensive hands-on training opportunities, including company-provided Lenel Certification, and the chance to build technical expertise in mechanical security systems. After completing onboarding (6-12 months), this position transitions to graveyard/3rd shift operations, providing unique career development in 24/7 hands-on security maintenance.

Requirements

  • Low voltage technician experience is highly beneficial for this role
  • Age 18 years or older with strong hands-on mechanical/ low voltage electrical troubleshooting skills and experience working with physical hardware
  • Valid California Driver's License with ability to travel between client properties during 3rd shift hours
  • Willingness and availability to work graveyard/3rd shift schedule permanently after onboarding period (6-12 months)
  • Commitment to handling preventative maintenance work orders as a primary job responsibility on 3rd shift
  • Experience with hand tools, electrical testing equipment, and basic 12v/24v electrical systems
  • Strong attention to detail for handling physical security equipment and following safety protocols when working with electrified hardware
  • Professional demeanor with ability to work independently during overnight hours with minimal supervision

Nice To Haves

  • Previous hands-on experience with door hardware, electronic locks, access control panels, or similar mechanical/electrical security equipment
  • Experience working 3rd shift, overnight, or graveyard schedules in maintenance or technical roles
  • Knowledge of preventative maintenance scheduling, work order systems, and physical inventory management
  • Familiarity with mechanical troubleshooting of electrified door hardware, strikes, magnets, and card reader components
  • Experience using hand tools, multimeters, and testing equipment for electrical hardware diagnostics
  • Background in commercial building maintenance, locksmith work, or security hardware installation
  • Commitment to obtaining Lenel Certification for hands-on access control system maintenance (company-provided training available)

Responsibilities

  • Perform hands-on repairs, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance on physical security hardware including door strikes, magnetic locks, card readers, electronic key boxes, and mechanical door components
  • Execute scheduled preventative maintenance work orders on 3rd shift, ensuring all security hardware receives required inspections, lubrication, calibration, and component replacements
  • Respond to emergency repair calls by physically diagnosing hardware failures, replacing defective components, and restoring security equipment functionality using hand tools and test equipment
  • Handle work order management through systematic documentation of maintenance activities, repair actions, parts used, and equipment status updates
  • Coordinate physical materials, replacement parts, hand tools, and test equipment required for hardware repairs while maintaining spare parts inventory
  • Read technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and mechanical schematics to determine proper repair procedures for electrified hardware and mechanical components
  • Work 3rd shift operations (graveyard shift) providing 24/7 coverage for preventative maintenance scheduling and emergency hardware repair response
