About The Position

Throughout that time, we have maintained a strong electrical engineering and design department focused on developing and providing comprehensive solutions for a variety of industrial manufacturing and utility clients. Excel provides design and electrical engineering services for facilities and processes undergoing retrofit, expansion, or new construction. The Electrical Engineer provides onsite non-destructive electrical compliance assessments of Client electrical equipment in manufacturing/industrial applications. The evaluator will visit Client sites, assess Client-identified equipment against various risks related to shock, fire or other electrical hazards as applied to the operating environment the equipment will be placed into service in and provide a report summarizing deficiencies and recommended remediations required of the electrical equipment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from an ABET accredited institution, or equivalent experience is required
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 Scale
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both in words and in writing; ability to generate client communication correspondence and presentations
  • Proficiency in SKM PowerTools, ETAP, PowerWorld or similar power system modeling software
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with individuals at all levels in a client-setting as well as within our organization in a team environment
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office

Nice To Haves

  • Industrial electrical code and installation experience in the following industries is preferred: Manufacturing, Consumer Goods, Renewable Energy; Gas Processing, Chemical, Power, Waste Management, or Pharmaceutical.
  • Expertise in National Electrical Code (NEC), NPFA70E, and UL nationally recognized standards.
  • Strong knowledge of NEC, NFPA, and UL standards, as well as electrical safety
  • Ability to research and comprehend Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) requirements for client locations

Responsibilities

  • Perform third-party field evaluations of unlabeled electrical equipment to nationally recognized standards
  • Interface with Clients to develop scopes and estimates for third-party field evaluations
  • Manage multiple equipment evaluation projects involving multiple Clients
  • Regional travel in Minnesota will be required
