AECOM is hosting an exclusive, invitation-only hiring event in Boston on November 19-20, 2025. AECOM's Water Business Line is seeking a talented Entry-Level Electrical and Instrumentation & Controls Engineer to support water, wastewater treatment, flood protection, and associated projects in our Chelmsford, MA office. This position offers a unique opportunity to work within an established and successful national group under the direct responsible charge and supervision of Registered Professional Engineers that offers a diverse range of technical challenges and career development opportunities. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or other related field.
  • Must have a valid U.S driver's license and as a condition of employment, must be able to pass AECOM's Motor Vehicle Records review.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior related intern and/or professional experience.
  • Successful Passing of the Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam
  • Capable of using spreadsheet, word processing, and standard office software.
  • Basic knowledge of industry-standard computer software for the position such as AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, and commercially available engineering analysis packages.
  • Coursework in thermodynamics and hydraulics.
  • Detail-oriented while still able to understand/comply with the big picture/goals of a project.

Responsibilities

  • Perform assignments requiring the application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to carry out engineering tasks associated with the technical design and layout of electrical systems for water and wastewater treatment facilities. Assignments are designed to further develop judgment and understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities.
  • Exercise engineering judgment for the development of preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives in the design of low and medium voltage electrical power distribution systems; design of switchgear, switchboards, motor control centers, generators, transformers, and other electrical power distribution components.
  • Perform design for lighting, fire alarm, telephone, security, and grounding systems.
  • Prepare engineering-related calculations, specifications, and develop drawings and visual aids including single line diagrams, electrical plans, wiring schematics, and schedules. Perform electrical system studies and calculations such as load, harmonics, voltage drop, lighting, short circuit, coordination, and arc flash.
  • Prepare design drawings, plans, sections, details, and profiles/sections within the Autodesk Civil 3D, AutoCAD MEP, and Revit.
  • Work under the mentorship and supervision of a senior engineer.
  • Willingness and ability to occasionally travel to sites throughout North America.
