About The Position

SUMMARY Rewinds electric motors through data collection and rewinding of AC/DC electric motors, armatures, rotors, and related components. Verifies rewinds by a variety of tests including, but not limited to; core loss, hi-pot, phase balance, rotational direction, meg-ohm, and similar testing. Documents pre and post test data in ERP. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Inspects equipment and components by visually observing the unit for physical damage, missing parts, leaks, etc. Disassembles equipment and components by marking and removing parts of the motor, noting any damage or signs of wear. Remove and dispose of old winding from core. Identify and document winding data in ERP and convert data as required. Repair or modify existing core to meet standards. Correctly size and wind coils. Perform proper wire insertion, wedging, and tying of winding or wire. Uses tools, such as torch, grinders, hydraulic and mechanical pullers, to perform disassembly and repair work. Performs operations such as drilling, tapping, deburring and surface conditioning using manual machinery and tools. Perform and document final electrical and mechanical test results of the winding, insulation and connections. Dip and bake winding, sometimes using overhead cranes to dip motors into varnish tank and move into oven. Clean up fits, threads, and identification plates of varnish. Perform final testing and documentation. Meets with leadership to determine daily and weekly work priorities and adjusts work activities accordingly. Attends to, cleans and observes equipment and machinery to verify efficient and safe operation. Ensures all products are completed to production, quality and technical specifications. Pulls jobs to quote from staging area and obtains approved units from WAPP area and transfers to workstation. Maintains a clean, safe, and orderly work area. Participates in ongoing training and other company programs to develop leadership and job skills when available. Performs other duties as directed by leadership.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED preferred.
Experience disassembling or assembly industrial/commercial machinery and/or equipment desired.
Experience using an assortment of pneumatic and manual hand tools, as well as operating hoists, jacks, micrometers, etc. preferred.
Requires the ability to read blueprints, schematics, and other types of drawings.
Knowledge of electrical concept for the service and repair of electric motors and other electrical devices such as generators, contactors, appliances, and tools helpful.
Knowledge of operating function of a motor’s parts in relation to each other, such as the armature, commutator, coils, brushes and winding helpful.
Knowledge of materials used in electrical repair, such as fiber, phenolic, glastic, magnetic & regular copper wire, spaghetti sleeving, glass, rubber and cloth tapes, epoxy, brass, steel, solvents and/or aluminum parts helpful.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operational instructions, maintenance manuals, and procedures.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
Must have strong self-initiative.
Must have strong attention to detail skills.
Ability to willingly participate in a team environment to achieve departmental and organizational goals and objectives.
Ability to work with established deadlines.
Flexibility to work outside of standard business hours to meet business needs.
Frequent standing at a workstation or designated area to perform job duties which includes frequent bending, stooping, climbing, turning, twisting and standing.
Requires the ability to lift 50 pounds without assistance.
Occasional computer work.
Consistent attendance with occasional off-shift support required.
