About The Position

As an entry-level Data Engineer at IBM, you will leverage data to uncover compelling stories and complex patterns. This role involves data gathering, storage, and processing, both in batch and real-time. You will collaborate with diverse teams to determine the best data management systems and identify essential data for insightful analysis, while addressing challenges related to database integration and unstructured data sets.

Requirements

• Ability to incorporate a variety of statistical and machine learning techniques.
• Basic understanding of Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, etc.).
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, and Scala for building data pipelines.
• Experience with Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) tools and data integration or federation tools.
• Familiarity with tools like Linux, SQL, Python, Spark, Hadoop, and Java.

Nice To Haves

• Basic understanding or experience with predictive/prescriptive modeling skills.
• Strong teamwork skills and excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
• Ability to communicate with clients to understand and define business needs and provide analytical solutions.
• Capability to ask business and industry questions to identify appropriate modeling techniques.
• Ability to communicate results to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Implementing and validating predictive models and maintaining statistical models focused on big data.
• Designing and implementing enterprise search applications such as Elasticsearch and Splunk based on client requirements.
• Working in an Agile, collaborative environment with scientists, engineers, consultants, and database administrators to apply analytical rigor and statistical methods.
• Building teams or writing programs to cleanse and integrate data efficiently, developing predictive or prescriptive models, and evaluating modeling results.
