The Entry Level Controls Engineer position at Belcan in Indianapolis is a full-time role focused on supporting projects related to engine control systems and software for airborne platforms. The role involves design artifact generation, test case development, and collaboration with various engineering teams to ensure robust software systems throughout the product lifecycle. The position is set to start in June 2025 and requires a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering field.

  • Design artifact generation and creation, including developing templates and managing requirements using DOORS and IBM RPE.
  • Develop and execute test cases in a simulation environment, analyze data, validate control functionality, and document results.
  • Support design and development of new controls products throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Perform debugging and troubleshooting of systems and software during development.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive tests at the Unit, Integrated, and Functional Test levels to ensure compliance with requirements.
  • Support integration of various systems components and data products to ensure a robust software system.
  • Collaborate and act as an interface between controls engineers, software developers, and customers.
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in mechanical, aerospace, electrical engineering, or a related field.
  • High attention to detail and ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Aptitude for computers, software, and scripting languages.
  • Experience using office software such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Experience with scripting languages (Python, Perl, etc.).
  • Ability to learn new tools and concepts quickly.
  • Ability to work in a hybrid work environment including virtual teams.
  • Self-motivated and highly organized contributor.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively.
  • Basic knowledge of requirements databases and/or software development tools such as Matlab/Simulink, LabView, DOORS.
  • Understanding of control theory concepts and components.
  • Willingness to work off-shift hours on occasion.
  • Interest in aviation and/or aerospace applications.
