S&ME is looking for a motivated and passionate Entry-Level Construction Materials Professional to join our Construction Services team in Wilmington, North Carolina. As an entry-level Construction Materials Professional, you are vital in guaranteeing the integrity and safety of construction endeavors by evaluating and confirming the characteristics and quality of materials used.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering or a similar engineering field.
• 0-2 years of experience in construction materials testing/inspecting soil, concrete, masonry, and/or asphalt.
• The willingness to obtain industry certification within 6 months of employment.
• Basic math and communication skills (speaking, reading, and writing) using the English language.
• The understanding of a fluctuating schedule and occasional travel.

Responsibilities

• Perform tests and oversee special inspections of materials such as soil, concrete, asphalt, and others to ensure they meet project specifications and industry standards.
• Verify that construction plans and specifications align with project goals before conducting field observations.
• Document detailed observations and test results during project execution, using Metafield or other management systems daily for efficient data handling and coordination.
• Help draft reports and proposals for smaller projects, ensuring thorough and accurate assessments and documentation.
• Interact with management, contractors, and clients to maintain project transparency and provide regular updates on progress.
