About The Position

Tectonic is currently seeking full-time, Entry Level Construction Engineers/Inspectors for multiple upcoming projects throughout the Hartford, CT, Norwalk, CT and surrounding areas! This is an excellent opportunity to work on high-profile projects and for professional growth and development within the A/E/C industry! ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Essential functions of this position include monitoring construction operations to determine compliance with project plans and specifications and performing field testing on construction materials to ensure that materials and procedures comply with project plans and specifications. They will prepare Daily Field Reports, report deficiencies observed in the field, and perform complex quantity and engineering computations. Inspectors will also be required to communicate effectively on site deficiencies to in-house project managers, contractors and/or client representatives as the project requires. Other functions include interpreting drawings and documents, including work orders, build documents and manufacturing processes, as well as all other related duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS BS in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Engineering Technology, or similar; Ability to perform basic quantity and engineering computations, and to read and interpret plans and specifications; Functional proficiency of Microsoft Office Suite; Excellent written and oral communication skills, with strong interpersonal skills; A valid driver's license and a personal vehicle for site inspections. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS While performing the essential functions of this position, the employee is frequently required to assume a stationary position, handle, inspect, and/or feel documents, materials and/or equipment relevant to the job and communicate about same. The employee is also regularly required to move around on the job-site, including ascending or descending on the landscape or on a ladder, and positioning themselves appropriately to access necessary testing materials and equipment, frequently for prolonged periods of time. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. In accordance with the level of visual detail required for this position, close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus are required for this position. The employee will also communicate with colleagues, supervisors and clients by using the Corporate and client e-mail and telephone system. The employee must also occasionally operate a computer, as well as other related office machinery, such as calculators, printers, and fax machines. This position also requires the regular operation of a motor-vehicle, which may require remaining stationary for extended periods of time.The physical demands described above are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform essential functions of this job. Requirements
