About The Position

The Environmental Field Chemist (CleanPack Chemist) at Clean Harbors is responsible for handling, segregating, packing, and inspecting chemical waste in compliance with various regulations and company policies. This entry-level position involves working both indoors and outdoors at various sites, including plants, labs, and customer locations, focusing on safe waste management practices and environmental sustainability.

Requirements

• College degree in Chemistry or Natural Science.
• Ability to comply with all safe work practices, policies, and processes.
• Willingness to obtain a CDL Class B with hazmat and tanker endorsement within 6 months of employment.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in environmental services or waste management.
• Familiarity with OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations.

Responsibilities

• Handle, segregate, pack, and inspect chemical waste according to regulations and company policies.
• Assist with lab packs within customer facilities and household hazardous waste (HHW) collections.
• Perform inspections of staging, accumulating, and storage areas to ensure compliance and proper housekeeping procedures.
• Prepare computer-generated packing lists, labels, manifests, and land disposal restriction notifications.
• Collect, segregate, and properly package waste chemicals for disposal to maximize efficiency and maintain compliance.
• Execute jobs at customer locations, including Fortune 500 companies, ensuring adherence to safety and regulatory standards.
• Conduct projects according to site-specific federal, state, and local regulations and health and safety plans.
• Sample and profile new waste streams or any waste needing analytical testing.
• Ensure drum count is correct and that drum conditions are shippable according to company policies.
• Obtain a CDL Class B with hazmat and tanker endorsement within 6 months of employment.
