About The Position

AECOM is hosting an exclusive, invitation-only hiring event in Boston on November 19-20, 2025. This is a great opportunity to learn and connect with AECOM for career opportunities starting Spring/Summer 2026. The event kicks off on Wednesday evening with a networking mixer, where you can hear from AECOM staff about various projects, career paths, and the company itself. You’ll also have the chance to meet other students, recent graduates, and AECOM professionals from across our business lines. On Thursday, interviews will take place at our Boston office. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn about and connect with AECOM for early career opportunities. AECOM is seeking an Entry Level Bridge Engineer to be based in Providence, RI. In this role, the ideal candidate will work under the guidance of experienced bridge engineers performing analysis and design of bridge structures and other transportation related structures. This position is an opportunity to work within a well-established and very successful group that offers a diverse range of projects, technical challenges and career development opportunities. This position is expected to begin as soon as possible.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in structural engineering or related field.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in structural engineering.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT).
  • Proficiency with Microstation, OpenBridge, AutoCAD, and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D and similar computer software.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Word and Excel.
  • Detail-oriented with strong skills in structural analysis, steel and concrete design.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good time management skills.
  • Strong work ethic and a willing desire to learn.
  • Familiarity with AASHTO codes and Bridge Engineering practices.

Responsibilities

  • Preparation and checking of design calculations for bridges and other transportation related structures.
  • Load rating of existing bridges.
  • Preparation of construction drawings which include – plans, structural sections, and details.
  • Preparation of quantity calculations.
  • Preparation of construction cost estimates.
  • Preparation of reports and technical specifications.
  • Shop drawing review and design services during construction.
  • Visual survey and structural observations of existing bridge structures for rehabilitations/repair projects.
  • Coordination with other in-house engineering disciplines as needed.
  • Collection and analysis of data under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
  • Use computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problems.
