About The Position

As GFT continues to grow and expand, we are seeking an emerging Bridge Engineer to support our team in our Mechanicsburg, PA office. This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring a minimum 3 days of onsite office attendance. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Structures.
  • 0-3 years of experience in bridge design and/or detailing.
  • Familiarity with plan development with CADD (MicroStation and/or AutoCAD).
  • Knowledge of geometry, design manuals, and design guidelines.
  • Expertise with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Ability to work independently and produce quality work as part of a design team.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certification.
  • Prior experience with structural design software such as: Openbridge, CSIBridge, or STAAD.
  • Familiarity with AASHTO Bridge Design Standards.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 3D modelling, design, and drafting support for transportation structures such as bridges, culverts, retaining walls, utility vaults, noise abatement walls, sign structures, ITS structures, etc.
  • Perform quantity calculations and develop cost estimates.
  • Assist in the development of construction contract documents and review construction documents such as shop and working drawings.
  • Coordinate work activities with other disciplines.
  • Review inspection reports and perform bridge load ratings.
