EchoStar has an exciting opportunity for an Entry Level AI Engineer in our Hughes Network Systems Division. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in generative AI, traditional machine learning, and deep learning across multiple domains. This position will be located at our headquarters in Germantown, MD.

  • Architect and implement cutting-edge AI applications leveraging generative AI, traditional ML, and deep learning models to improve satellite communication systems and services
  • Lead the development of AI products across speech, text, and vision domains, including raw data processing pipelines for satellite data analysis
  • Optimize Large Language Model Operations (LLMOps) practices and implement Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) techniques for enhanced data processing and analysis
  • Design and develop sophisticated AI agents with a focus on observability, performance, and scalability in satellite network environments
  • Utilize cloud platforms, particularly Google Cloud Platform, for efficient AI/ML model deployment and scaling across Hughes' global infrastructure
  • Implement advanced data storage and retrieval systems, including vector databases, to support AI applications in satellite communications
  • Develop and present proofs of concept and demonstrations to showcase AI capabilities to stakeholders within Hughes and to potential clients
  • Create data visualizations to effectively communicate complex AI insights and results related to satellite network performance and user behavior
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate AI solutions into existing Hughes product ecosystems
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related technical field
  • 2 years of experience in AI/ML development, with demonstrable expertise in generative AI, traditional ML, and deep learning
  • Experience with MLOps practices and tools in production environments
  • Proficiency in distributed computing and big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Hadoop)
  • Proven proficiency in Python and relevant AI/ML frameworks
  • Extensive experience with LLMOps, including model fine-tuning, deployment, and monitoring
  • Demonstrated expertise in AI agent development and implementation of observability practices
  • Strong background in cloud-based AI/ML workflows, particularly with Google Cloud Platform
  • In-depth understanding of prompt engineering techniques for large language models
  • Proficiency in working with advanced database systems, including Redis and vector databases
  • Substantial experience in AI applications across speech processing, natural language processing, and computer vision
  • Proven ability to rapidly develop proofs of concept and create compelling demonstrations
  • Advanced skills in data visualization and presentation of complex AI concepts
  • Expertise in containerization and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Experience designing and implementing CI/CD pipelines for AI/ML projects
  • Contributions to peer-reviewed publications or open-source AI projects
  • Demonstrated success in developing both traditional ML and deep learning models for complex vision tasks
  • Familiarity with satellite communication technologies and challenges
  • Demonstrated ability to drive innovation in AI technology within the context of satellite communications
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences
