About The Position

VTG is seeking a talented and experienced Enterprise Systems Engineer to join our dynamic and innovative team in Chantilly, VA. The Enterprise System Engineer will maintain a strong awareness of technical trends in information technology, develop and maintain a strong awareness of ongoing IT projects, and business unit requirements. The role involves applying project management models (e.g., Spiral, Waterfall, Agile) for development efforts and providing analysis, design, development, deployment, and lifecycle support for innovative hardware systems and applications. Responsibilities include developing end-to-end cost analysis for projects, ensuring compliance with enterprise technical architecture, preparing project teams for CIO Project Management Program control gates, and keeping senior management informed of project or program status.

Requirements

  • Active TS/SCI with Polygraph
  • BS degree and 6-10 years of relevant experience
  • Database user interface and query software - Database software; Microsoft Access
  • MS Office Suite
  • Markup language - HTML
  • Experience with Metric Tools

Responsibilities

  • Develops block diagrams and logic flow charts.
  • Translates detailed design into computer software.
  • Tests, debugs, and refines the computer software to produce the required product.
  • Prepares required documentation, including both program-level and user-level documentation.
  • Enhances software to reduce operating time or improve efficiency.
  • Provides technical direction to programmers to ensure program deadlines are met.
  • Applies business process improvement practices to re-engineer methodologies and principles.
  • Assists in establishing standards for information systems procedures.
  • Develops and applies organization-wide information models for integrated software and database management systems.
  • Ensures logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions.
  • Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, cost estimation, trade studies, and requirements allocation.
  • Provides staff and users with assistance solving computer-related problems.
  • Tests, maintains, and monitors computer programs and systems.
  • Uses object-oriented programming languages and client/server applications development processes.
  • Confers with clients regarding information processing or computation needs.
  • Coordinates and links computer systems within an organization.
  • Consults with management to ensure agreement on system principles.
  • Expands or modifies systems to serve new purposes or improve workflow.
  • Analyzes and studies complex system requirements.
  • Designs software tools and subsystems to support software reuse and domain analyses.
  • Manages software development and support using formal specifications and design techniques.
  • Estimates software development costs and schedules.
  • Reviews existing programs and assists in making refinements.
  • Applies the concept of operations for planning, analysis, design, and construction of information systems.
  • Develops analytical and computational techniques and methodology for problem solutions.
  • Performs strategic systems planning and business information planning.
  • Provides technical guidance in software engineering techniques and automated support tools.
  • Analyzes functional business applications and design specifications.
