About The Position

We are seeking an exceptionally talented individual to join our risk team to be a key member focused on risk and investment research in support of senior leadership in making capital allocation and firm risk management decisions. A successful candidate will help to build and maintain analytical models used to gain insights into risk and alpha drivers of our portfolios, as well as communicate those insights to senior management. Schonfeld Strategic Advisors is a multi-manager platform that invests its capital with Internal and Partner portfolio managers, primarily on an exclusive or semi-exclusive basis, across four trading strategies; quantitative, fundamental equity, tactical trading and discretionary macro & fixed income. We have created a unique structure to provide global portfolio managers with autonomy, flexibility and support to best enable them to maximize the value of their businesses. Over the last 30 years, Schonfeld has successfully capitalized on inefficiencies and opportunities within the markets. We have developed and invested heavily in proprietary technology, infrastructure and risk analytics and continue to capitalize on new opportunities. In 2021 we launched our newest strategy, discretionary macro & fixed income as part of the continual growth of Schonfeld’s investible universe. Our portfolio exposure has expanded across the Americas, Europe and Asia as well as multiple asset classes and products.

Requirements

  • 5-10 years of experience working in risk or trading
  • Experience with a broad range of equity, credit and interest rate products and their derivatives
  • A strong track record of working independently to solve business problems
  • The ability to simplify and present complex topics and influence decision outcomes
  • Experience building and maintaining risk models (characteristics-based or statistical)
  • Passion for learning and discovering new ideas in quantitative finance
  • Proficiency with procedural programming skills (Python or R)
  • Strong mathematical and statistical modeling (knowledge of matrix algebra and linear analysis)
  • Comfort with analysis of large datasets, high-level attention to detail

Responsibilities

  • building models/dashboards for stress tests and scenarios
  • performing research into sources of return, common factor exposures and potential market stressors
  • communicating those insights to the broader management team
  • incorporating them into models and analytics to mitigate the risk of outsized drawdowns and to help inform the firm’s capital allocation process
  • investigating and integrating new datasets used by proprietary models and risk infrastructure
