About The Position

The Enterprise Network Administrator administers the systems, networks, and communication connectivity for High Desert ESD and our regional partners. The Administrator works primarily to coordinate work with the Regional Network Operations Team (NOC), school district technology directors and district network teams. The HDESD Network Operations Team provides support for a region wide-area network that includes Crook and Deschutes County school districts. The Administrator will be responsible for network management, including implementing network changes/upgrades; analyzing, testing, documenting, supporting, troubleshooting region wide-area network systems, wireless networks, and communications network systems; working closely with the Enterprise Network Engineer to maintain industry-standard security and general configurations for both hardware and software products.

Requirements

  • College-level courses in computer science or related fields
  • Cisco Certifications at the Associate (CCNA) level or above
  • Three years in computer operating systems and/or programming experience
  • Hands-on experience with Cisco networking products, and (preferred) experience with Palo Alto Security products
  • Project management experience, with demonstrated ability to work and communicate successfully in a team setting
  • Experience with the design and management of wide area networks
  • Experience with the design and management of wireless networks
  • Irregular working hours are common
  • Must have access to reliable transportation and consistent attendance is required.

Nice To Haves

  • The ability to communicate in Spanish is always a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide regular and project-based management of the regional network systems, including security management.
  • Support and work closely with our regional partner districts and organizations.
  • Lead incident and project communications between the NOC and our partner districts.
  • Manage regional wide-area networks and infrastructures including new installations, upgrades, configuration, user accounts, maintenance, troubleshooting, security procedures, user connectivity, remote control system management, etc.
  • Troubleshoot and fix network problems; develop changes to networks/systems or procedures to avoid a recurrence.
  • Manage HDESD and partner district communication data, VoIP, wireless networks, mobile device management, and video networks.
  • Continue professional learning through certification and coursework opportunities.
  • Perform project management responsibilities, which may include establishing priorities, specifications and approaches; working with others to complete the project; and, tracking/following up on progress in relation to network management.
  • Perform appropriate documentation tasks; review drafts and revisions; ensure reports and communications meet customer and department quality, service, and other requirements.
  • Provide backup support to other positions in case of absence or workload.
  • Communicate technical concepts to nontechnical audiences successfully.
  • Work and communicate successfully in a team setting.
  • Respect and maintain confidential information in all situations.
  • Fulfill other related duties as assigned.
