Take a peek into what makes us different here: https://youtu.be/AIt17t_uJ-A?si=oSMy5zQeUcb_faE3 Position Summary: The Enterprise Data Manager is responsible for leading Henderson Companies enterprise Data function, defining and executing the firm’s data strategy, and ensuring high-quality, trusted, and actionable data is consistently delivered across the organization. This role serves as the owner of enterprise data platforms, analytics delivery, data governance, and data engineering and data science practices. The Enterprise Data Manager partners closely with IT, Corporate Applications, Software Development, Finance, Operations, and Business Leaders to ensure data initiatives are aligned with firm strategy, enable informed decision-making, and support scalable growth. This role balances strategy, people leadership, and execution, while championing data as a shared enterprise asset.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience) required.
  • 10+ years of experience in data, analytics, or business intelligence roles.
  • 7+ years in a data leadership or management role overseeing data engineering, analytics, or BI teams.
  • Proven experience defining and executing enterprise data strategies and roadmaps.
  • Strong understanding of data platforms, data modeling, analytics architectures, and reporting ecosystems.
  • Hands-on experience with Agile delivery, including backlog management and iterative value delivery.
  • Experience working with ERP, Finance, HR, and Operations data domains.
  • Familiarity with data integration, ETL/ELT pipelines, APIs, and cloud data platforms.
  • Strong understanding of data governance, data quality, privacy, and security principles.
  • Experience with SQL-based databases; Microsoft SQL preferred.
  • Proficiency with Agile tools such as Azure DevOps, Jira, or similar.
  • Ability to lead vendor evaluations and manage third-party data and analytics partners.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including executive-level reporting.
  • Demonstrated ability to build, mentor, and retain high-performing teams.
  • Must demonstrate proficiency in all core competencies outlined in this job description.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting or standing at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to read, write and communicate in English.

Responsibilities

  • Define and continuously refine the enterprise data strategy and roadmap, including data platforms, analytics, reporting, governance, and advanced analytics capabilities.
  • Translate business priorities into a clear, value-driven data backlog, ensuring alignment with firm objectives, client outcomes, and operational efficiency.
  • Partner with Corporate Applications, Finance, HR, and Operations to ensure data strategy complements application strategy and enables end-to-end business workflows.
  • Establish clear success metrics for data initiatives, focusing on data quality, adoption, trust, and business impact.
  • Provide architectural leadership and standards for data platforms, pipelines, analytics layers, and reporting solutions.
  • Ensure data quality, reliability, security, and performance across all enterprise data assets.
  • Establish and evolve enterprise data governance practices, including data ownership, definitions, lineage, access controls, and stewardship models.
  • Balance speed and rigor by enabling self-service analytics while maintaining enterprise standards and controls.
  • Evaluate and guide the use of third-party data tools and platforms, prioritizing scalable, out-of-the-box capabilities over unnecessary customization.
  • Partner with business leaders to translate questions into data solutions and ensure insights are actionable and adopted.
  • Lead data planning, review, and prioritization forums to ensure transparency, shared ownership, and measurable outcomes.
  • Champion data literacy across the organization by helping stakeholders understand what data can (and cannot) do, and how to use it effectively.
  • Act as a trusted advisor in executive and cross-functional conversations related to metrics, KPIs, performance management, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Manage a cross-functional Data Team, including data engineers, analytics engineers, BI analysts, and data analysts.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, psychological safety, accountability, and continuous improvement through servant leadership and coaching.
  • Ensure effective intake, prioritization, sprint execution, and capacity planning for data initiatives in an Agile or hybrid delivery model.
  • Develop team members through mentoring, skills development, and alignment with future data and analytics needs of the firm.
