The Enterprise Architect will serve as the senior-most technology strategist, responsible for defining and executing the long-term technology vision and roadmap for the entire enterprise. This pivotal role involves translating overarching business objectives into a cohesive, secure, and scalable enterprise architecture that anticipates future needs. The Enterprise Architect will establish the governance, standards, and patterns that guide all future technology investments and will engage directly with C-level executives, business leaders, and engineering teams to ensure architectural alignment and drive innovation across the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science/ engineering, or related field from an accredited university.
  • 10+ years' experience managing teams and enterprise systems across multiple IT disciplines, to include data center, cloud IaaS through SaaS, hybrid cloud, campus and enterprise networking, DevOps (5 years), DevSecOps (5 years), containers, micro-services, and virtualization solutions.
  • Proven experience leading the development of enterprise architectures for large-scale DoD or IC programs.
  • Demonstrable, hands-on experience creating a comprehensive set of DoDAF 2.0x artifacts.
  • IAT/IAM Level II or III Certification.
  • Top Secret clearance with the ability to obtain SCI.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Deep, practical expertise with the DoD Architecture Framework (DoDAF) is mandatory. Familiarity with TOGAF, UAF, or FEAF is a plus.
  • Proficiency with enterprise architecture modeling tools, such as Sparx Enterprise Architect, Cameo, or Alfabet.
  • Broad knowledge of DoD IT infrastructure, including tactical networks, NIPRNet, SIPRNet, JWICS, and cloud environments (AWS/Azure GovCloud, C2S, SC2S).
  • Exceptional ability to translate high-level mission needs into detailed technical architecture.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional architecture certifications such as TOGAF 9 or a specific DoDAF certification are a significant plus.
  • Cloud architecture certifications (e.g., AWS/Azure Solutions Architect) are desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Strategy & Vision
  • Develop and maintain the enterprise architecture roadmap in alignment with DoD strategic goals, modernization efforts, and mission requirements.
  • Define and implement architectural standards based on DoDAF, UAF, and other relevant DoD/IC frameworks.
  • Analyze emerging technologies to assess their applicability and value for enhancing mission capabilities and operational effectiveness.
  • Architecture & Design
  • Lead the creation of all DoDAF artifacts and views (All, Operational, Capability, System, etc.) to model the enterprise.
  • Design secure, scalable, and interoperable solutions spanning classified (Secret, TS/SCI) and unclassified networks, including AWS/Azure GovCloud and on-premises data centers.
  • Develop reference architectures and reusable patterns for mission systems, C4ISR, data analytics platforms, and Zero Trust implementations.
  • Governance & Compliance
  • Establish and lead an Architecture Review Board (ARB) to ensure all new solutions comply with established DoD architectural standards and security controls.
  • Ensure architectural adherence to NIST standards, DoD STIGs (Security Technical Implementation Guides), RMF (Risk Management Framework), and other federal mandates.
  • Identify and mitigate architectural risks related to cybersecurity, interoperability, and technological obsolescence.
  • Collaboration & Leadership
  • Collaborate with Program Executive Offices (PEOs), military leaders, and system engineers to ensure architectural alignment across diverse defense programs.
  • Mentor solutions architects and engineers on the principles of defense architecture and DoDAF modeling.
  • Clearly communicate complex architectural concepts to senior military and civilian leadership to secure buy-in and guide investment decisions.
  • Other duties as assigned.
