About The Position

This role is at Spirit AeroSystems, Inc. a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company, supporting Spirit’s Commercial Business Units (“Spirit Commercial”). Spirit Commercial designs and builds commercial aerostructures, including for Boeing Commercial Airplanes, one of Boeing’s three business units and the premier manufacturer of commercial jetliners for decades. Spirit Commercial’s core products include fuselages, pylons, nacelles and wing components, with a focus on innovative composite and aluminum manufacturing solutions. The Enterprise Architect (IT) for Corporate Aerospace is a strategic role responsible for defining and governing the enterprise-wide IT landscape. This position acts as the crucial link between business strategy, especially as it relates to complex aerospace engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and flight operations, and the technology solutions that support it. The architect will develop Technical Debt resolution, legacy Application rationalization plans, multi-year IT roadmap, and technical standards to drive digital transformation, improve operational efficiency, and ensure system reliability and security across all corporate and mission-critical IT functions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10+ years of experience in Information Technology, with at least 5+ years specifically in an Enterprise Architecture or Leadership role.
  • Expertise across multiple architectural domains (Business, Data, Application, and Technology).
  • Adequate knowledge of at least one major Public Cloud Platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and cloud architecture best practices (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS).
  • Understanding of enterprise applications and platforms critical to Aerospace, such as ERP, PLM, MES, and CyberSecurity.

Responsibilities

  • Identifying risk, cost, schedule, and support constraints: The Jobholder must identify and evaluate these elements in order to inform the Business of options and provide a recommendation.
  • Knowledge of software development processes and technical skills: Solution Architects must know the DevOps and DevSecOps best practices for guidance in the addition to new and existing technologies.
  • Communication with stakeholders such as application and system owners, leadership stakeholders, partners and vendors. The Jobholder must convey technical language to other stakeholders often in non-technical terms.
  • Organizational and time management skills in order to ensure Architecture deliverables are on schedule and complete.
  • Broad knowledge of Business systems, applications, hardware and software.
  • Understanding of technical processes and how they might map to Business processes.
