About The Position

The Enterprise Architect will lead enterprise-level architecture strategy, modernization efforts, and cloud solution design to support business objectives and citizen-focused services across the Commonwealth. This role serves as a trusted advisor, bridging technical and non-technical stakeholders while guiding modernization, integration, and governance initiatives.

Requirements

  • Minimum Qualifications (one of the following):
  • Bachelor’s degree with 6+ years of professional IT experience
  • 10+ years of professional IT experience
  • Equivalent combination of experience and training
  • Must Have Experience In:
  • Application development and modernization
  • Enterprise reference architectures and technology standards
  • API design and secure system integrations
  • Cloud solution architecture (Azure preferred)
  • Developing and executing technology roadmaps aligned to business objectives
  • Translating complex technical concepts into actionable guidance for diverse stakeholders

Nice To Haves

  • TOGAF 9.x, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or Salesforce Certified Application Architect
  • Experience in state or federal government environments
  • Familiarity with low-code platforms, especially Appian (case management, workflows, regulatory systems)
  • Familiarity with Salesforce, geospatial systems, or regulatory data standards

Responsibilities

  • Develop, publish, and maintain enterprise reference architectures and technology standards
  • Lead modernization planning for legacy systems transitioning to cloud-native or hybrid architectures
  • Architect and oversee secure integrations across platforms such as Azure, Salesforce, and Appian
  • Design scalable, secure cloud solutions aligned with Commonwealth security frameworks and federal regulations
  • Collaborate with agency stakeholders to align architecture with business goals and citizen engagement needs
  • Provide technical guidance and solution oversight to development teams and project managers
  • Define and promote data interoperability strategies while ensuring compliance with record retention and protection policies
  • Research and recommend emerging technologies to improve service delivery and efficiency
  • Maintain architectural documentation, standards, and technology roadmaps
  • Support architecture governance by reviewing and validating solution designs
  • Develop business capability models and ensure alignment with strategic and regulatory goals
  • Influence across teams without direct authority as a trusted architectural advisor
