About The Position

The Enterprise Architect will lead enterprise-level architecture strategy, modernization efforts, and cloud solution design to support business objectives and citizen-focused services across the Commonwealth. This role serves as a trusted advisor, bridging technical and non-technical stakeholders while guiding modernization, integration, and governance initiatives.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications (one of the following):
Bachelor’s degree with 6+ years of professional IT experience
10+ years of professional IT experience
Equivalent combination of experience and training
Must Have Experience In:
Application development and modernization
Enterprise reference architectures and technology standards
API design and secure system integrations
Cloud solution architecture (Azure preferred)
Developing and executing technology roadmaps aligned to business objectives
Translating complex technical concepts into actionable guidance for diverse stakeholders

Nice To Haves

TOGAF 9.x, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or Salesforce Certified Application Architect
Experience in state or federal government environments
Familiarity with low-code platforms, especially Appian (case management, workflows, regulatory systems)
Familiarity with Salesforce, geospatial systems, or regulatory data standards

Responsibilities

Develop, publish, and maintain enterprise reference architectures and technology standards
Lead modernization planning for legacy systems transitioning to cloud-native or hybrid architectures
Architect and oversee secure integrations across platforms such as Azure, Salesforce, and Appian
Design scalable, secure cloud solutions aligned with Commonwealth security frameworks and federal regulations
Collaborate with agency stakeholders to align architecture with business goals and citizen engagement needs
Provide technical guidance and solution oversight to development teams and project managers
Define and promote data interoperability strategies while ensuring compliance with record retention and protection policies
Research and recommend emerging technologies to improve service delivery and efficiency
Maintain architectural documentation, standards, and technology roadmaps
Support architecture governance by reviewing and validating solution designs
Develop business capability models and ensure alignment with strategic and regulatory goals
Influence across teams without direct authority as a trusted architectural advisor
