The Enterprise Applications & Systems Engineer supports and maintains the School's core enterprise applications, while developing integrations and solutions that improve efficiency and data flow. This role works with on-premise and cloud applications for student information, financial, admission, medical, and college advising system. In addition to system administration, the position requires strong skills in SQL, JavaScript, and form development to deliver reliable reporting, user-friendly interfaces, and seamless connectivity across institutional platforms.

  • Provide technical support and administration for the School's core information systems, ensuring reliability, security, and performance.
  • Develop, test, and deliver new integrations, interfaces, and forms using SQL, JavaScript, and related tools.
  • Manage SQL development and administration, including queries, stored procedures, data loads, and performance tuning.
  • Collaborate with ITS staff and campus stakeholders to ensure system compatibility, effective data flows, and optimized workflows.
  • Perform process reviews, identify gaps, and implement approved technology solutions with clear project plans.
  • Create and maintain system documentation, supplementing vendor materials with Choate-specific guidance.
  • Support end users with reporting needs using Crystal Reports, Excel, and other tools; develop complex reports as required.
  • Lead or support system upgrades, implementations, and QA testing in test and production environments.
  • Troubleshoot escalated issues, document resolutions, and provide post-implementation support until transitioned to first-level support.
  • Bachelor's degree in an IT/CIS or related field preferred or work experience equivalent.
  • 3 years' experience working with information systems.
  • Extensive experience in information systems in an enterprise or campus environment.
  • Extensive knowledge of relational databases, web and client-server concepts, data processing, and campus-wide information systems.
  • Strong background and understanding of SQL database design, development, and administration.
  • Familiarity with APIs and their use in system integrations, data exchange, and application connectivity.
  • Experience with form creation and customization for web-based and enterprise applications.
  • Proven experience in the development and implementation of standards, procedures, and guidelines to support operational processes.
  • Proven technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience working in education or healthcare information system environments.
  • Technical experience with systems networking, database structure, web development, report generation, and end-user support.
  • Familiarity with enterprise-level applications and large-scale environments.
  • Knowledge of integration infrastructure (e.g., Single Sign-On, identity management, APIs, middleware).
