The Enterprise Applications Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the application systems and support section within the City of Renton. This role focuses on project management, budget management, and staff supervision, with an emphasis on coaching and mentoring employees. The manager will ensure that all activities align with the City's vision and goals while maintaining relationships with key partners and stakeholders.

  • Oversee and manage the work of the application systems and support section.
  • Create and execute short and long-term plans for the section.
  • Manage and monitor the section's budget.
  • Supervise staff and provide coaching and mentoring to enhance their skills.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key partners.
  • Manage the progress of development and/or implementation of business system technologies.
  • Develop and manage improvements to the project management lifecycle.
  • Coordinate the City's Request for Proposal (RFP) process for technology procurement.
  • Review technology contracts following IT Contracting Process.
  • Manage, communicate, and troubleshoot systems issues and risks.
  • Ensure successful implementation and maintenance of business systems.
  • Maintain knowledge of web servers such as Apache and Microsoft IIS.
  • Coordinate the transition of support responsibilities to the appropriate Departmental staff.
  • Assist with developing and implementing future growth plans and the IT Strategic Plan.
  • Chair meetings and prepare meeting agendas, project activities, and reports.
  • Evaluate employee performance and conduct consistent staff check-in meetings.
  • Prepare budgets, monitor expenditures, and submit periodic budget updates.
  • Create an environment of teamwork and respect, fostering a culture of equity and inclusion.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in business needs assessment analysis, design, programming, procurement, implementation, and support.
  • Minimum 4 years of supervisory experience.
  • Successful passing of a required background check and national fingerprint-based records check.
  • Experience with web servers such as Apache and Microsoft IIS.
  • Knowledge of project management methodologies.
  • Familiarity with business case analysis and technology procurement processes.
