About The Position

We are seeking an accomplished Senior CNC Programmer / Programming Lead to drive advanced machining processes, mentor the programming team, and lead cross-functional initiatives. This role combines deep technical mastery with leadership responsibilities to ensure best-in-class CNC programming, process efficiency, and operational excellence across the organization.

Requirements

  • 7–10+ years of CNC programming experience with mastery of multi-axis machining and advanced part programming.
  • Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, NX, or equivalent).
  • Strong background in machining processes, tooling, GD&T, and regulated industry standards.
  • Experience with automation integration (robotics, probing systems, advanced fixtures) preferred.
  • Proven ability to lead teams, mentor staff, and deliver structured training.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills across technical and business functions.

Responsibilities

  • Program, validate, and optimize complex CNC machining operations, including multi-axis machining and advanced geometries.
  • Create and validate first-run programs (First Article) and sign off on process capability before release to production.
  • Ensure programs meet customer specifications, safety requirements, and industry compliance standards.
  • Lead cycle time reduction, tool life optimization, and process automation through robotics, probing systems, and multi-axis strategies.
  • Continuously identify opportunities for cost reduction, efficiency gains, and improved machine utilization.
  • Write and maintain SOPs, setup sheets, and standard work instructions to improve repeatability and knowledge transfer.
  • Ensure compliance with Company or industry standards.
  • Supervise and guide junior programmers, setting programming standards and reviewing/approving code before release.
  • Mentor and coach staff to raise overall skill level and ensure consistency in programming practices.
  • Develop and deliver training programs on CNC programming best practices, software, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Collaborate with design engineers to provide design-for-manufacturability (DFM) input and influence cost-efficient designs.
  • Develop and implement tooling strategies, including vendor selection, validation, and standardization.
  • Lead Continuous Improvement/Lean initiatives such as Kaizen events, cost-reduction projects, and process innovations.
  • Support sales and estimating by providing accurate machining time estimates for customer quotes.
  • Serve as the programming liaison with engineering, quality, and operations to ensure seamless integration of manufacturing strategies with business goals.
