About The Position

The YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties is seeking an Enrichment Coach to join our team! The YMCA focuses on empowering people in all forms, by improving health and well-being and inspiring action in and across our neighborhoods. This position supports the work of the Y, a leading non-profit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. As an Enrichment Coach, you will ensure scholars receive meaningful and engaging instruction by implementing curriculum that support positive behavior-management and aligns with the school, district, and state requirements. If hired, you will also assist in coordinating activities and events for parents, scholars, and staff. The Enrichment Coach is responsible for building a strong summer program team that works well together, overseeing the educational quality of the program and implementing the program model to create the best learning environment for the scholars. Provides leadership, instruction and motivation for program participants. Provides a quality experience to children and parents focused on YMCA core values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.

Requirements

  • You are at least 18 years old.
  • You are willing and able to complete Child Abuse Prevention training on the first day, as well as, other online trainings as required.
  • Employment is subject to state/national background and fingerprint checks and professional reference checks.
  • Must be able to pass Background and Reference checks (in accordance with the WA State Fair Chance Act).

  • Minimum age of 18.
  • Sensitivity to the needs of families including adults and children.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and organization skills.
  • Strong technical skills, with ability to learn new programs quickly as needed.

  • Complete online Child Abuse Prevention training on first day. Complete other online and in-person training as required.
  • Regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
  • Occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Must frequently lift or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift or move a higher amount.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Nice To Haves

  • You have at least 1 year in child care and/or education (preferred).
  • You have experience working in urban communities and managing an OST program or other community-based youth program (preferred).
  • You have a positive attitude, patience and previous experience with diverse populations.
  • You have the drive to improve the minds and lives of scholars within the community.
  • Bi-lingual in English and Spanish speaking preferred.
  • One year or full time equivalent in child care/education.
  • Experience working in urban communities, an OST program, or other community-based youth program.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that the goals of the program are achieved for each scholar.
  • Assist in coordinating activities and events for parents, scholars, and staff, including field trips, guest speakers, and community service projects.
  • Ensure that all curriculum and supplies are maintained throughout the program.
  • Ensure scholars are receiving meaningful and engaging instruction.
  • Implement and maintain a positive behavior-management system that is clear and aligns with the school, district, and state requirements.
  • Ensure the ongoing health and safety of scholars at all times.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and requirements.
  • Implement the provided curriculum.
  • Assist with site parent events, and assisting parents in filling in paperwork and follow-up phone calls.
  • Complete program training along with site staff in preparation for program launch.
  • Serve as the connection between the program and the scholars' parents to ensure support for their child's growth.
  • Maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including school administrators, other Y branches and parents.
  • Meet performance measurement by telling the Y story and raising charitable dollars to fulfill our mission.
  • Assist staff leadership team in reaching campaign goals through recruiting campaigners, making personal asks and supporting branch events.
  • Cleaning and sanitation protocols will be required of all staff.
  • Staff will be responsible for frequent touchpoint cleaning and sanitizing in specific areas.
  • Staff are expected to adhere to all safety protocols and procedures, including the use of PPE.
