About The Position

As a Training Specialist with GDIT, you will play a crucial role in delivering complex technical and tactical training to sailors at the Aegis Training and Readiness Center in Dahlgren, VA. Your responsibilities will include developing, organizing, and conducting training programs, providing subject matter expertise for curriculum development, and assessing sailors' abilities to comply with operational procedures. You will also be responsible for preparing and customizing lesson plans, conducting training gap analyses, and providing feedback for course improvements. This position requires the ability to conduct traditional classroom instruction and support tactical lab training, as well as the capability to stand for extended periods while instructing. Travel may be required up to 10% of the time.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related technical discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Three years of experience with applicable systems or processes in a master level training environment.
  • Two years of experience as an instructor in a Navy Training Environment.
  • Experience in curriculum maintenance, writing learning objectives, and preparing test items.
  • One year of relevant experience interfacing with training systems/simulations.
  • Experience as a qualified RSC or a Master/Afloat Training Specialist is a significant plus.
  • Surface Warfare Tactics Instructor AQD is highly preferred.
  • Must possess a Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, organize, and conduct training and educational programs for Fleet sailors.
  • Provide subject matter expertise in support of curriculum development for ATRC courses.
  • Conduct traditional classroom instruction and support tactical lab training.
  • Review and analyze U.S. Navy Aegis Combat System Engineering Capabilities and Limitations.
  • Conduct dynamic assessments of sailors' abilities and provide formal appraisals with recommendations for improvement.
  • Prepare, review, and customize curriculum lesson plans and instructor guides.
  • Conduct training gap analysis and provide feedback for course improvement.
  • Establish and review course content and objectives.
  • Develop criteria for evaluating the effectiveness of training activities.
