The Enhanced Registrar plays a crucial role in providing exceptional care to patients by ensuring a smooth and efficient registration process. This position is responsible for registering patients across multiple service lines, which involves obtaining and accurately inputting essential demographic, financial, and clinical information from patients or their representatives. The Enhanced Registrar works primarily during the evening shift, from Monday to Friday, 6 PM to 2:30 AM, with the expectation of working four hours on three holidays each year. In this role, the Enhanced Registrar verifies the accuracy of the EMPI link and identifies potential linking problems or instances of identity theft. They interact directly with patients or their representatives to gather, verify, and input critical information into the database, ensuring that all necessary data is collected for billing, reporting, and analysis by various agencies. The Registrar is also responsible for registering patients for multiple service lines within the facility, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements by explaining legal documents such as Advance Directives and HIPAA notices. Additionally, the Enhanced Registrar conducts financial screenings to identify potential funding sources and engages in financial discussions with patients regarding copays, insurance benefits, and payment arrangements. They coordinate with physician offices and clinical staff to address out-of-network issues, ensuring that patients can maximize their insurance benefits. The position requires excellent communication skills to respond to patient inquiries about billing processes and to provide assistance as needed. The Enhanced Registrar is also expected to maintain quality and productivity standards, may lead or train new employees, and perform cashiering and reception duties as required. This role is pivotal in setting a positive tone for the patient's experience at the hospital, supporting patient engagement initiatives, and contributing to the facility's overall goals.
