About The Position

Assesses participants' job readiness skills. Manages a class of individuals with limited or no English skills. Conducts activities to enhance motivation and improve communication skills. Assists with workshops and teaching job readiness skills and life skills related to achieving pre-employment competencies Administers tests to measure participants' competency in program components. Assists all participants in seeking employment, resolving barriers, and managing work-life balance. Maintains daily time and attendance records for all participants and submits to the scheduling clerk. Ensures that all participants comply with all center guidelines and regulations Maintains a high degree of discipline within the classroom. Adequately prepares classroom instruction, identifies appropriate materials, documents student progress, and designs instruction to meet individual student needs. Creates lesson plans and teaches those plans individually to students. Create tests, reinforce classroom rules, and manage students outside of the classroom. Track and document student progress. Assist in preparing students for standardized tests. Work with department administration on special assignments or activities Complete monthly student assessments Submit requests for classroom materials Submit requests for books, dictionaries, and instructional materials Coordinate with Special Education teacher to meet reasonable student accommodations Comply with department meetings and deadlines. Support staff in all student activities, Track student handbook to ensure students meet minimum standards Track and record student electronic files in CIS (case notes, etc.) Coordinate or assist with coordination of graduation ceremonies and awards assemblies Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree in secondary education and have current state certification as a secondary education teacher in the English language in the state providing the service.
  • Minimum of one year of experience working with youth between AGE} and 24 years of age.
  • Ability to teach in a team and work in a dynamic and constantly changing environment.
  • Excellent communication skills and public speaking skills.
  • Efficient communication with people in person and in virtual webinars.
  • Ability to handle communications and correspondence in English and Spanish.
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office package.
  • Experience in conducting group workshops/training for job readiness skills.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to use creativity and enthusiasm to motivate people of all ages and adapt learning activities to meet group and individual needs.
  • Ability to locate resources to overcome potential barriers to successful program completion.
  • Self-motivated, flexible, and able to work in a team.
  • Have Puerto Rico Law 300 certification.
  • Have a valid Puerto Rico driver's license and a good driving record.
  • Being bilingual is required.
  • Experience with curriculum development and lesson planning.
  • Knowledge of various teaching methodologies and classroom management techniques.
  • Familiarity with ESL (English as a Second Language) teaching strategies.
  • Ability to use educational technology and integrate it into lessons.
  • Strong cultural awareness and sensitivity to diverse student populations.
