About The Position

Holds or is able to secure an Arkansas teaching license, specifically in secondary English Teach secondary English courses to students in grades 9-12, utilizing course guidelines that are aligned with Arkansas teaching/learning standards and other designated district curriculum expectations Develop and study curriculum lesson plans that support reading, comprehension, grammar, and writing skills Use of available technology to help students produce projects to demonstrate their understanding of literary skills in practical applications Has a passion for teaching literary concepts in a student-centered classroom Provide opportunities, when needed, for individualized and small-group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive and engaging classroom environment Evaluate each student’s progress in reading comprehension, literary analysis, and writing skills to provide support as needed Create engaging, active lesson plans to promote student mastery of literary concepts Communicates with parents and other personnel regarding student mastery and progress Supervise students in and out-of-classroom during the assigned work day Maintain professional competence by participating in continuous professional growth, curriculum development opportunities, and Professional Learning Communities Share in the sponsorship of student activities such as literacy projects, promotional events, as well as faculty committees and projects Participate cooperatively with the appropriate administrator in their evaluation and professional growth plan Creates a classroom environment and lessons that are conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students (including differentiation and engagement) Displays effective classroom management and incorporates engaging student activities Strive to implement, by instruction and action, the district’s philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives Perform other duties as assigned Alma School District assures Equal Employment Opportunities and equal education opportunities for employees and students as required by Federal and State Orders and Laws.
