Under supervision of the Adult Education Program Director, this position is responsible for performing all aspects of English as a Second Language, (ESL) instruction for Adult Education. Prepares lesson plans that are aligned with English Language Proficiency Standards. Provides learner guidance to students. Evaluates students' progress in attaining goals and objectives. Prepares and maintains required documentation and reports. Maintains a secure classroom environment.

  • Teach ESL classes that consist of standards-based lessons in reading, writing, speaking, listening and/or language skills based on the individualized learning needs of students.
  • Utilize pre-test scores to develop targeted instruction for students; devise student learning plans for all students based on pre-test scores and prepare students for post-testing.
  • Communicate with appropriate staff/faculty for students' testing needs in a timely manner.
  • Implement student retention activities and promote adult education through the service delivery area.
  • Complete and maintain appropriate attendance and assessment records and ensure timely submission (daily) of data.
  • Participate in staff development.
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Two (2) years related work experience
  • Minimum three (3) years' experience in education, or related field
  • Teaching Experience on the Secondary Level
  • Experience with Blackboard
  • Strong computer, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • $22 per hour
