About The Position

The English/Language Arts Teacher position at Dickinson Independent School District is responsible for providing students with engaging learning activities and experiences in the core academic subject area. The role aims to help students achieve their intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth, while developing the necessary competencies to succeed in society.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited university.
• Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or training for the assigned subject and level.
• Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned.
• One year of student teaching or approved internship experience.
• ESL certification required by March 15 of the first year (if certified).

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the district's curriculum requirements and show written evidence of preparation.
• Prepare lessons that accommodate individual student differences.
• Plan and use appropriate instructional strategies, activities, materials, and technology based on students' learning styles and needs.
• Conduct assessments of student learning styles and use results to inform instructional activities.
• Collaborate with special education teachers to modify curricula for special education students according to IEP guidelines.
• Work with peers to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements.
• Plan and assign work to instructional aides and volunteers, overseeing their completion.
• Conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
• Assume responsibility for assigned extracurricular activities and sponsor approved outside activities.
• Serve as a positive role model for students and support the mission of the school district.
• Assist in selecting instructional materials and maintain required reports and records.
