Requirements

• Master’s in English, literature, comparative literature, or composition OR Bachelor’s in any of the above AND Master’s in linguistics, TESL , speech, education with a specialization in reading, creative writing or journalism OR the equivalent.
• Equivalent qualifications may include related education, training, employment and professional experience that would be equal to the required degree(s) and experience in this field as determined by the District Equivalency Committee.

• Recent lower division or community college teaching experience.
• Demonstrated ability to develop a variety of effective teaching techniques and assessment methods.
• Ability to engage student interest to support a variety of learning styles.
• Ability to promote the use of instructional technology in curriculum delivery.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Experience with teaching and mentoring historically and socially minoritized/marginalized communities such as African-American/Black, Chicanx/Latinx, Pacific Islander, Native American, women, LGBTQIA+, and people with disabilities.
